Kuzeyemirler Villas – A Harmonious Settlement in Nature
Located in Kuzeyemirler, Kastamonu, this villa development project is based on the careful placement of ten individual units, each oriented to maximize privacy and panoramic views. The unique topography of the site has been used as an architectural advantage, allowing each villa to enjoy its own unobstructed landscape and natural light.
Site Strategy & Spatial Planning
Each villa is thoughtfully positioned to ensure independent sightlines and maximum sun exposure, while preserving generous distances between structures. Thanks to the natural slope of the land, every home includes a partially exposed basement level, enhancing usable interior space without disturbing the overall scale of the project.
Private parking is provided for each unit, integrated discreetly within the architectural layout, avoiding visual clutter and maintaining a sense of openness throughout the site.
Material Choices & Environmental Performance
Departing from conventional reinforced concrete, the villas will be constructed using locally sourced cut stone masonry. This traditional technique not only offers structural integrity, but also contributes to passive climate control—keeping interiors cool in the summer and warm during winter.
The stone façades blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, creating a timeless aesthetic that resonates with the region's natural and cultural heritage.
Cultural References & Modern Interpretation
Timber balcony elements on the façades are inspired by the traditional “cumba”—a projecting bay window feature commonly found in historic Turkish homes. Here, it is reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, providing both shading and visual interest while maintaining a strong connection to architectural memory.
